1. Abrasive Finishing Booth Application

Application: Abrasive Blasting. Worn Bag House Dust Collector suffered from frequent maintenance, poor duct and fan inlet design along with an under sized hopper outlet. System also had difficulty meeting state emission requirements. This situation resulted in high maintenance cost from labor intensive material discharge, unreliable airflow and short filter life. Use of the new Donaldson/Torit DFO Collector provided constant airflow, from reliable filter efficiency, automatic filter cleaning and increased dust storage capacity via the use of 2- 55 gallon drums. This change improved internal blasting quality, safety for the operator, reduced overall maintenance costs and met emission standards.

6. Composite Dust

Application: Aircraft manufacturer generated composite dust from an overhead CNC router use. Parts are typically large (10-20 ft. long) and dust collection hoods were required to travel the length of the entire machine table surface (over 20 ft.). The router mounted hoods and dust collector air flow isolated workers and substantially reduced machine maintenance due to the capture of large volumes of dust. Additional applications in the plant include use of Torit ECB Environmental Control Booth to contain fine composite sanding dust.

15. Mining Sample/Assay Lab Application

Application: Mining company sample lab out-grew original dust collection system that included permanent booth/enclosure source capture plan for operation of laboratory sized grinders, pulverizers and screens. Inadequate airflow increased shop maintenance, exposed operators to dust sources, and original booth partitions hampered work flow.

Existing sheet metal booths were replaced with self-contained Donaldson/Torit ECB Power Modules that provided constant filter cleaning and continuous airflow directly to the work source. This allowed for shop flexibility without need for partitions and tool movement in addition to operator protection from airborne dust. Ducted discharge air from individual rooms kept work area under negative pressure. Portable air cleaner can be moved throughout the plant for local dust control. Nilfisk HEPA Vac used for general housekeeping and dust removal from ECB Power Module pullout dust drawers.

16. Paper Dust Application

17. Paper Trim Application

Application: Printing company scrap paper removal system upgrade project included addition of new inlet manifolds and air/electric diverter gates for 3- existing roof mounted paper trim handling cyclones. Project also included rebuilding and re-use of customer provided material handling blowers. 20. Plastic Dust/Trim Application

Application: Saw department of plastic supply/fabrication company required dust collection system upgrade to remove dust and trim from existing and new, larger CNC saws. Original dust collection system suffered from reduced airflow due to elevated pressure drop and difficulty to maintain manual clean after filter system. Dust collection system upgrades included self cleaning after filter unit that shakes filters each time the system is shut down. Rotary Valve/Air Lock was increased to 20” size from 16” size in order handle larger chip/trim section volumes. Auto shake after filter with increased filter area reduced pressure drop and kept air more constant at tools, clean air is returned to the facility.

23. Soil Sample Lab Application

24. Steel Grinding/Sanding Dust Collection

Application: Bottling company service center repairs/refurbishes/resurfaces vending machines. Application: Toner dust generated from the disassembly of various sized printer cartridges. The Torit system was connected to specially modified disassembly workstations that pulled air and toner dust material from operators in a downward motion.
